Nourishing the Body and Soul

Child’s Nutrition: Nourishing the Body and Soul    By Moqheeta Mehboob   Food—the first love for many—is not merely a necessity for survival. It is a source of joy, comfort, and togetherness. Sharing meals or feeding loved ones brings immense happiness. For parents, the simple act of watching their child eat well serves as a soothing balm, filling their hearts with a sense of fulfillment and relaxation. In Islam, this act of love holds spiritual significance, as Allah smiles upon the sincere expression of a parent's care. By nourishing their children, parents mirror Allah’s attributes of being the Provider and Sustainer.   However, the question arises: Are parents overdoing this act of love? Are they overly fixated on feeding their children "the best," to the extent that they become distraught if a meal is skipped or left unfinished?   In this article, we’ll explore how Muslim parents should approach their child’s nutrition, focusing on two key ar...

Practical Learning at Schools

Image
Practical Learning at Schools By Moqheeta Mehboob It was a significant day—the day you decided to contribute to the community, the next generation, and the betterment of humanity by starting a school. You worked tirelessly to ensure the highest quality of education and instill good morals in the students. However, as time passed, other priorities may have overshadowed some finer details. Yet, it is often these finer details that define our identity and purpose. I have a few simple, actionable suggestions that can be implemented at any school. These can help shape students into responsible, empathetic individuals. One for You as My Gratitude:   This is a heartwarming idea that could make a difference: dedicating one day each month when students bring an extra portion of lunch for the school’s support staff. This small act would mean a lot to the staff and instill a sense of gratitude in students. A different class could take turns each month to invite the staff for lunch, foste...

A celebration of simplicity

I generally avoid wedding parties, as they often feel overly extravagant. However, today I made an exception, and I’m glad I did. The simplicity surrounding this event drew me in from the very start. The story is heartwarming: the groom, seeking a halal companion, expressed his wish to marry early. His parents, supportive of his decision, found a suitable match but reminded him that providing for the bride’s mehar was his responsibility, which he graciously accepted. Without any unnecessary fanfare or traditional pomp, they set a date and conducted the nikah in the bride’s city, bringing her home in a simple, heartfelt ceremony. The walima was a beautiful reflection of this simplicity. The invitation even included a clear end time, which was a refreshing change from the typical drawn-out events. Usually, the bride is either still at the parlour or the groom is busy with a celebration dance when guests arrive, leaving the stage empty and food unserved until they arrive. It always felt s...

Empowering Quran Teachers: A Project to Strengthen Tajweed Knowledge and Enhance Teaching Skills

Image
Recently, I had the privilege to work on a remarkable Quran education project initiated by Help HYD, an NGO focused on empowering communities through education. One of its standout initiatives was the Train the Trainer program, designed to enhance the knowledge of Quran teachers by focusing on Tajweed rules and the correct deliverance of the Quran to students. This program has left a profound impact on all involved, and I would love to share some highlights of this beautiful journey. The Train the Trainer program was launched as a free initiative for existing Quran teachers or individuals with a strong foundation in Tajweed. The vision behind the project was simple but powerful: equip teachers with perfect pronunciation and a deeper understanding of the Tajweed rules so they can pass that knowledge accurately to their students. Maulana Qasim Mehmood Hashmi Sahab, who headed the program, emphasized the importance of refining the teachers first, so they could, in turn, refine their stude...

The Expanding Role of Schools: Creating a Community of Lifelong Learners

by Moqheeta Mehboob T he primary purpose of schools is to impart education and build a community where everyone learns and progresses. Schools should inspire a love for the journey of gaining knowledge, but should their mission stop with their students? I believe that if schools sincerely aim to foster a thriving community, they should extend their circle of concern and provide education to all within their society. This includes students, teachers, and parents. Does this seem impossibly far-fetched? Would you worry about stretching school resources into other areas? Let's explore its practicality. Students: The Core Focus Schools already work very hard to ensure their students receive quality education and support. This foundation is strong and can serve as a model for expanding educational initiatives. Teachers: Elevating Educators Teachers are the backbone of any educational institution. However, schools sometimes hire teachers who are underqualified for their posts but posses...

Approaches to Learning Difficulties

Approaches to Learning Difficulties Mrs Moqheeta Mehboob Teacher Trainer Edutop,  School Development Service Provider, Hyderabad, 500028 edutopm@gmail.com 0091 8106559082 Abstract:  This paper focuses on the learning difficulties faced by students in any common school setup. This paper has highlighted the difference between clinical learning difficulties and the other subtle learning difficulties which are often overlooked by school management. The learning styles of the past and present have also been looked into. The students of the past were more sincere and passionate towards learning with the limited resources available to them.  Main objective of this paper is to emphasise the learning difficulties faced by students which are often thought to be inconsequential hence given less attention.  We see schools popping up in every nook and corner, but sadly the quality of many schools lack even the minimum expected standards. Making change in schools is essenti...
